Handed in my notice at my current employer. Didn’t really give me the satisfaction I was after. Back to contracting is the plan.
It’s challenging, as these things always are. Commercial drivers are king and trying to get some changes in to any organisation to be able to measure and then improve project performance will be tricky. I need to really understand what the personal drivers are for senior staff so I can tailor a response in terms of improvements.
I do believe that smaller numbers of effective projects, run and delivered quickly mean better performance and less escalations. I just need to be able to evidence that and show some benefits. They are definitely there, I just need the time and space to prove it.
So the new speakers turned up from the supplier. No more muddiness due to the tweeter cutting in and out. And a new delivery from Epitaph Records turned up. You’ll see the pictures below. Many happy hours of listening to come.
I’m going to have to get another job. I’m having far too much fun not working and at some point the money is going to run out!
So, it turns out that my speakers that I bought recently with a new deck and amp are dodgy. There’s a loose connection in their somewhere. However, the guys from Spain’s of Bromsgove came to my house and diagnosed the problem. It wasn’t me thankfully. They have arranged to order replacement speakers and deliver and replace them this week. Excellent service from them.
Weekend was spent watching European rugby at Five Ways Old Edwardians RFC on Saturday and then watching Worcester Ladies rugby lose their 3/4th place play-off match against Lichfield RFC unfortunately. Daughter #2 plays for Worcester.
This week I have to get a job! Got a first stage interview for a permanent programme manager role so I’ve been preparing for that. Then I’ll get my CV out to the contract market after that. Loads of stuff to do!
So I’m in that classic contractor “between jobs” stage. I finished at my last place on 23 December. My wife had already suggested that I take a little time off and the start of January is a rubbish time to get a new contract so I’m taking January off.
Looking at a couple of opportunities but no more than that. It will be several weeks full of listening to my new record set-up, walking, drinking coffee and painting the kitchen. Every cloud has a grey lining.
