It’s been a struggle to keep enjoying the rugby right now. Starting to run out of enthusiasm for all of it – my local club where I coach, televised rugby, women’s rugby. I’ve told my club I’m standing down as head coach and I’ll be taking a complete break from the game.
When I say a complete break, that’s what I mean. The plan is not to step foot on a rugby ground, quit all my twitter feeds and have nothing to do with the game. I’m going to spend from April 2017 to April 2018 just riding my motorbike and my Lambretta, catching back up on my longboarding and following the football. Then after that we’ll see how I feel. May never go back to coaching and rugby, you never know.
What trip to see FC St Pauli doesn’t start off with a trip to the Jolly Roger?
The match was great. Stylish choreo to start and a 90′ score to gives the win. Back to the Jolly Roger and drinking until the early hours.
Actually covered Minatur Wunderland this time. An indoor, incredibly detailed model. Bargain to €13!
Time to head to the Hamburger DOM for this trips slightly different German food. This time it was potato fritters with apple sauce….. Time for a quick walk round the Alster lakes and a walk through St Pauli to do some graffiti spotting. Then home. A real weekend as always.
So me and a mate have our trip to Hamburg booked again. Out on Friday, FC St Pauli at home to Heidenheim on Saturday, a day chilling in Hamburg on Sunday and back home. It’s going to be great.
Once again, Justus at the Fanladen sorted us out with tickets so we’re all geared up. Last trip we to our partners so this time it’s a boys trip. Still working out what to do. We’re just trying not to spend *all* the time in bards drinking Astra beer.
Still, the Hamburger Dom is back in town so that will prove a good starting place for food, beer and entertainment.
On the one hand I guess we should be happy that we can see this stuff. A second-division German football match at 5.30pm on a Friday. Still, the quality is a bit rubbish and every webcast always seems to want to download “updates” to my Macbook. Hmmmm.
Daughter had her cast off her leg this mooring after 6 weeks. We both thought that all would be good. Turns out the fracture has still not completely healed so she’s in a boot for 3 weeks. Bummer.
First half home against 1. FC Kaiserslautern finishes 1:1. Would have been 2:1 except the post kept out a great strike from Halstenberg. It ended up a gripping match. Kaiserslautern went 1:2 up but Kringe got one back to be at 2:2 with 90 minutes up. The timekeepers said 5 minutes extra time. Sadly at 6:24 of extra time Kaiserslautern got another to finish it at 2:3. Bloody shame. Himmelmann (replacement goalkeeper after Tschauner was injured) was immense.
