Went to the second BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT event. Was again talking about ITIL and Agile and the connections between projects/services and the Service Management community. There are some real tensions between speedy delivery of Minimum Viable Product and the demands of the ITSM groups who are often still embedded in a waterfall approach.

There is also sometimes the issue that ITSM units are wedded to process and see themselves often as a gateway or policing function. This will often feel like hurdles or obstacles to the Agile teams who clearly see themselves as representing the business much more than the ITSM group who will often use the same term.
